Often I am asked, "Who can become, or who is a Spiritual Ambassador at Florida Hospital?"

The truth is a Spiritual Ambassador is anyone who has sensed the "call" of God in their own life. They are individuals who wake up in the morning and believe they have a reason to be alive. They anticipate making a difference at work, not because they are better than others, but because they are acquainted with the "One" who has brought meaning and purpose into their own lives. If "He" lives in them then they will make a difference because he has promised to live through his people.

We often say during our Spiritual Ambassador orientation that we do not "create or make" Spiritual Ambassadors we simply identify who they are among us. The Spiritual Ambassador ministry at Florida Hospital was developed through the Spiritual Life Committee in response to those individuals who have come to our institutions because of our stated mission. They believe they are able to extend the mission through caring and sincere spiritual and emotional interventions among co-workers, patients and guests. They are mission-focused at work...their "job is mission" and they desire to serve even as Christ served humanity.

The Spiritual Ambassador ministry is not so much about "doing" as it is a ministry of "being" or "living" mission. Spiritual Ambassadors don't just serve here at Florida Hospital but in their homes, in their communities and wherever God leads them. Spiritual Ambassadors are Florida Hospital employees, staff, and volunteers who come to this institution to support and live its mission. They are always contributing to effective methods of enhancing and promoting mission throughout Florida Hospital campuses. There are no quotas for Spiritual Ambassadors by department or unit. The ministry is a mission-focused initiative open to those who wish to participate.

If you feel God's call on your own heart and desire to make a difference for now and for eternity why not be identified with a caring and growing team of Spiritual Ambassadors at Florida Hospital? We believe that those who join the SA team find an effective avenue in which to grow and express their spiritual gifts and talents on each of our expanding campuses. So who is a Spiritual Ambassador?
